Find people talking about your product on X
Find sampled public product mentions on X and distinguish them from supported opportunities. Review source evidence with DROP.
Short answer. DROP is a social listening tool for makers and creators. Paste your product site or public X profile to find sampled public mentions and potential opportunities. Read Mentions for brand references and Opportunities for a supported need or interest; naming your product does not establish intent to buy it.
Start from the product, not a keyword list
DROP reads the public product page you paste, then searches X for conversation around that identity. You do not need a handmade brand list to begin.
Intent matters more than mention volume
A post that names your product is not automatically a user. DROP ranks whether someone is trying a tool, looking for an alternative, stuck, or deciding.
Preview, then keep listening
Log in to preview matching posts. New accounts can open one recent, actionable opportunity before subscribing, when available. Focus is $19/month per site or handle for posts, authors, and an ongoing listen. Growth is $99/month per site or handle for a larger read allowance and CSV export.
Brand reference or opportunity?
Illustrative exercise — not a real customer result.
Worth checking: “Does Acme export comments with the file?” names the product and asks a concrete question. Confirm the exact Acme website and whether the feature exists.
Do not count: “Ten startups to watch, including Acme” is a mention, not the author’s buying request.
Next step: Keep brand feedback in Mentions; prioritise a reply only after confirming the question is current.
Try it step by step
- Paste the canonical product website and check that DROP understood the right company and features.
- Start with Mentions to inspect explicit brand references. Switch to Opportunities for requests that match the product’s job.
- Open the original conversation, check its publication date and decide whether the author has an unresolved need before replying.
| Approach | Useful for | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Brand query | Find explicit references to the named product. | Misses people who have not heard of it. |
| Task query | Find requests describing a documented job. | Needs a product-fit check; a shared keyword is insufficient. |
Using DROP for this task
DROP is a social listening and customer discovery tool for product makers and content creators. Paid monitoring supports 4 platforms: X, Reddit, LinkedIn and Threads. Focus includes up to 500 post reads per paid period; Growth includes up to 3,000. Reads are not guaranteed leads. The initial logged-in preview samples X and Reddit.
Inspect a product example · Inspect a creator example · Pricing and limits. Both examples are fictional and need no login. Read a real DROP snapshot with original-source excerpts and limitations.
Why can a brand search miss a potential customer?
A person may describe a problem without knowing your brand. A mention query and a task query answer different questions; inspect both.
Do mentions include everyone using my product?
No. They are collected public references in the selected window. Private customers, silent readers and uncollected posts are absent.
