Twitter listening that finds people

Published · Updated

DROP is a social listening and customer discovery tool for product makers and content creators. Twitter listening, now usually called X listening, means following public conversations relevant to a topic, product or creator. DROP uses a website or public profile to connect those conversations to what you offer, while keeping the evidence visible.

Run your first listening review

  1. Inspect the public product example to understand the output. Its posts are fictional. For your own sample, log in and paste an accessible website or public X profile.
  2. Check the product or creator understanding against what the input actually offers. A shared category word is not enough: the product must solve the task or the creator must cover the requested topic.
  3. Check collection and review status, then use the X source and publication period to inspect the relevant sample. The initial preview samples X and Reddit; it is not an archive of every X post.
  4. Review the matching reason, date and original conversation. New accounts can open one recent actionable opportunity before subscribing, when available. Further protected details require paid access.
  5. Record whether the result is useful and why. An illustrative request to merge duplicate feedback may fit a feedback product; a promotional list of feedback tools does not show the author needs one. Read the real field notes before interpreting result counts as customers.

Separate mentions from needs

A brand name in a post is a mention. A request for a recommendation, an unresolved problem or a specific interest can support an opportunity. Ordinary words used as brand names require context, and a viral promotional post is not automatically a lead. Review the post, its date, platform and matching reason. Short replies may need the surrounding conversation before their meaning can be assessed.

Keep expectations tied to the sample

DROP collects public posts from supported sources; it does not provide the entire X stream or read private messages. Recently discovered posts may have been published earlier, so today’s publication count and today’s new discoveries are different measures. A supplier error, an allowance wait and a completed search with no matching posts are also different outcomes. Check the displayed source status before interpreting an empty view.

Make the next action useful

For a product, offer a concrete way to solve the stated problem. For a creator, share something relevant to the person’s explicit request. Disclose your connection to a recommended product and follow the platform’s rules. DROP does not send automatic replies or unsolicited messages for you. Review the fictional product and creator examples first, then use your own preview to judge whether the matches are relevant.

Is Twitter listening different from X listening?

These names refer to listening on the same platform. Coverage depends on available public data and the supplier, not on the name used. DROP also supports paid monitoring of Reddit, LinkedIn and Threads.

Can I try the workflow without an account?

The two public example reports need no login and use labeled fictional posts. A preview for your own URL requires login and samples X and Reddit. New accounts can open one recent, actionable opportunity before subscribing, when available; further protected details require paid access.

What does ongoing listening cost?

Focus $19/mo per site or handle. Growth $99/mo per site or handle. Focus includes up to 500 reads with daily checks; Growth includes up to 3,000 with checks up to hourly and CSV export. Timing stays within your allowance and depends on source availability.
