Find users on Reddit
Find potential users on Reddit with task-specific searches, source checks and a worked qualification example. Compare manual research with DROP’s sampled monitoring.
Short answer. To find potential users on Reddit, search for an explicit problem in a relevant community, read the original thread and check whether your product meets the author’s constraints. DROP can collect and review a sample of public Reddit posts from your website; you still verify fit and decide whether participation is appropriate.
Start with a task you can already help with
For a customer-discovery product, start with people describing difficulty reaching their first users. For a feedback product, look for requests about collecting or prioritising feedback. A community name identifies context; it does not make every member a prospect. Write down one capability your product already delivers before opening a search.
Try a focused manual search
In Reddit’s own post search, try subreddit:SideProject title:"first users" or subreddit:micro_saas selftext:"feedback". These are illustrative queries, not queries we claim produced the field-note posts below. The subreddit field limits the community; title and selftext focus the text being searched. Use Reddit’s official search features for supported syntax. Reviewed September 28, 2026. These operators belong in Reddit search; DROP’s input takes a website or profile.
Work through a source-backed qualification decision
Our September 27 field notes include a SideProject discussion about reaching early users without spamming. The relevant need is audience discovery; the constraint is community promotion rules. Keep it as a conversation to understand, not a confirmed buyer. A micro_saas discussion also asks for product and landing-page feedback. Discovery may address only part of that request, so it needs further qualification. Neither author is claimed as a DROP user, and no outreach or conversion is reported.
Keep a review record outside the result count
For each candidate, note the source URL, publication date, stated problem, constraint, product capability and your accept/reject reason. Exclude solved requests, promotional posts, duplicates and needs your product cannot meet. Keep uncertain cases separate. A search returning ten posts does not establish ten relevant people, and an accepted match does not establish a trial or sale.
Decide when monitoring is useful
Manual search helps you learn the language and judge a small sample. DROP starts from your website or public profile and can repeat collection and review within its allowance. Its initial logged-in preview samples X and Reddit; paid monitoring also supports LinkedIn and Threads. A source failure, allowance wait and completed search without a relevant result mean different things. Review the displayed status and original source before drawing a conclusion.
Reply within the community’s rules
Read the current subreddit rules and the conversation before responding. Provide a useful answer, disclose affiliation where a product mention is allowed, and do not use a matching post as permission for a bulk pitch. If promotion is prohibited, do not add a product link or invitation to DM. The goal is a useful exchange, not inserting a keyword into an indexed page.
A help request with usable constraints
Illustrative exercise — not a real customer result.
Worth checking: “We need a feedback board that merges duplicate requests for a team of three” is specific enough to compare features.
Do not count: A self-promotion megathread is an exposure channel, not evidence of a prospective buyer.
Next step: Read current subreddit rules and existing answers. Reply only with relevant help; where promotion is prohibited omit your brand, link and DM invitation.
Try it step by step
- Search for a concrete task, recommendation request or unresolved problem in a relevant community.
- Read the whole thread, its date and current subreddit rules, including rules on promotion and AI-written replies.
- Answer the specific question. Mention DROP or your product only where allowed and disclose your affiliation; never repeat the same pitch across threads.
| Approach | Useful for | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Help request | Potentially relevant when the author describes an unresolved task. | Read the rules and check product fit. |
| Showcase thread | A permitted place to share a product when the rules allow it. | Exposure is not evidence of a prospective buyer. |
Using DROP for this task

May I promote a product in every matching thread?
No. Relevance does not override community rules. Where promotion is prohibited, offer useful advice without a brand, link or invitation to DM.
Does replying guarantee Google or AI indexing?
No. A reply may never be indexed or cited. Its purpose should be helping the author, not inserting search keywords.
