SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the GPS Block III SV04 satellite for the United States Space Force. It will lift off from Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

SV04 is part of the United States Space Force’s next generation GPS constellation. This launch will mark the fourth GPS Block III launch to date. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Just Read The Instructions” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

GPS, or Global Positioning System, is a medium-Earth orbit satellite constellation which is operated by the United States Space Force. It is America’s global navigation satellite system, providing worldwide coverage for geolocation and time. Currently, there are 31 active GPS satellites in orbit, with an additional 24 planned.

The booster supporting this mission is B1062. This is the booster’s first flight.

This will be the 18th launch for SpaceX in 2020.
This will mark the 95th flight of a Falcon 9 rocket, 62nd booster landing and 4th GPS Block III satellite launched.
