Russia: Penza plant showcases disinfection tunnels set up to protect Putin from COVID-19

Courtesy: Motor Technologies factoryA company responsible for the design and production of disinfection tunnels used by Russian President Vladimir Putin showcased the technology in Penza on Wednesday.The Motor Technologies plant used to make cleaning parts for manufacturing equipment until recently but switched to produce disinfectant tunnels due to the coronavirus.When people enter the tunnel, they are being sprayed with a disinfectant spray from the ceiling and sides.The tunnels have been installed at the Kremlin and in Putin's Novo-Ogaryovo residence, according to Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov. “When it comes to the head of the state, extra precautions are justifiable and understandable where the president is concerned,” Peskov commented.Many high-level Russian officials have tested positive for COVID-19 since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, including Peskov and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.Russia has reported more than 550,000 COVID-19 cases and 7,478 coronavirus-linked deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
