NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker and JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who were on board SpaceX Crew Dragon Resilience, are talking virtually to the media on Thursday, May 6, for the first time following their mission and historic splashdown.

The splashdown occurred in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Panama City, Florida, at 02:57 EDT (06:57 GMT) and the ship was successfully recovered by SpaceX. After returning to shore, the astronauts flew back to Houston, where they met their families and colleagues.

According to NASA, it was the first time an astronaut-piloted spacecraft has performed a nighttime water landing since Apollo 8, in 1968. Mandatory credit: NASA TV
