A finished video is often too large for an email attachment. A temporary link lets your recipient download the original without attaching the video to a message. With DROP, your entire transfer must fit within 3 GB.

## Send the original

1. Check the combined file size: at most 3,000,000,000 bytes. Keep a separate original copy.
2. Open DROP, choose your video and start the upload. Keep the browser open until the actual upload completes.
3. Copy the ready link and send it to the intended recipient. Confirm the expiry shown on the transfer.
4. Ask the recipient to download before expiry. Supported codecs can preview in the browser; download the original if preview is unavailable.

## Estimate the transfer time

The theoretical upload time is file bytes × 8 ÷ available upload bits per second. A 1 GB file over a sustained 20 Mbps upload would take about 400 seconds before overhead. This is a mathematical example, not a measured DROP result; routing, retries and other traffic can make it longer.

## If the video is larger than 3 GB

Create a smaller export if that is suitable for the recipient, or choose another service and plan that explicitly supports the full file. DROP cannot make a transfer above its limit succeed by renaming the file. A transfer tool is also not a permanent backup.
